Am looking to teach myself microsoft visual C# 2008 which book would be the best to get?

I'd rather learn from the internet but if you're near Pretoria I have a textbook that I bought but never used, Visual C# How To Program, would be willing to let it go for cheap since I don't intend to ever use it.

I have the 2005 version of this book (Framework 2.0). Its pretty good if you are already a programmer in some other language. Includes sections like ADO and ASP .NET, so its not just the C# langauge.

Also, if you are a pro at the below languages, theres a quick ramp up on C# equivalents. I used the Java one and thats how I got the know C#.

C++ http://media.wiley.com/assets/264/22/0764557599_bonus_AppD.pdf
VB6 http://media.wiley.com/assets/264/20/0764557599_bonus_AppB.pdf

I used the Wiley and Wiley books for C,C++,Java and C#. Really worth the while... usable if you are new to programming a specific language or just need to get some extra info if you already know the language.

From scratch (no development experience) - Head First C#.
Coming from another language - go with O'Reilly's books. There are a ton of them.
