Those caught driving drunk over the festive season will be dealt with severely, Cabinet warned on Thursday.

Briefing reporters in Pretoria following the executive's fortnightly meeting on Wednesday, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said there would be more police officers on duty over the holidays.

"Over this period, the increased visibility of law enforcement officials at roadblocks and search operations countrywide will ensure that South Africans are safe.

"Road users are reminded not to drink and drive, or drink and walk. Those found guilty of transgressing the rules will be dealt with to the full extent of the law," she said.

So they haven't been dealing with them to the full extent of the law before hand?

If that is the case, then the law enforcement branches need to be dealt with for selectively applying the law.

selectively applying the law.
Usual story... soft targets... middle income to rich people... while taxis, politicians, and well-connected people get off.

"Road users are reminded not to drink and drive, or drink and walk. Those found guilty of transgressing the rules will be dealt with to the full extent of the law," she said.

Cool, now to arrest every drunken pedestrian in Gordon's Bay and Strand over the coming days. There will be buses stacked with soon to be The Walking Drunks.

Angie I presume you are talking to your comrades as the rest of us have not stolen enough money to get drunk for every day of the holidays.

Actually.. why the HELL is Angie making this statement?

What power/knowledge does she have of policing laws in this country?

Same story every year and every year more than a 1000 people die every December on SA roads.

Drink and walk :wtf: , i was unaware it was illegal to do so.

This does not apply to select members of the cabinet, people in a great hurry with a flashing blue light on the dash, and all ANC MPs

Surely and hopefully she was warning cabinet because until now the "full extent of the law" has not been applied to those in cabinet.
