Calculate wheel diameter

Why dont you just buy some secondhand aftermarket rims or junkyard original rims and fit tires?

The few thousand you spend on the rims will be worth it when you sell the car and then sell the other rims to regain some money.

I actually popped out to Four Spring this AM which is just down the road. They will give me 4 x 17" Audi mags for R4k (Audi themselves quoted me R32k 2 weeks ago). I told them I want a set of 5 so the dude there is sourcing a 5th for me so looking at about R5k for a set of them. If he can get a 5th mag, then I will restart the thinking process.

The idea was to hold onto my 19" incase I started having buyers remorse (highly probable). If I did have buyers remorse I could put my 19" back and flog off the 17" again.

With all the if's and but's that have popped up in this thread, I will first go directly to Audi Airport to chat to a technician and make sure the mags at Four Spring will not negatively impact my vehicle.

Minty showed me a set of 18" aftermarket mags that I have also been mulling over. This was about 9 months ago when I got the front tyres done. They would make my cab look even more sexy than she is now. They were black with chrome inner linings. These were R7,999 for a set of 4 - so R10k for 5 but sure I could beat them for a discount.

Maybe at the end of the day - I will save my brain all this trouble of deciding and just stick with what I have :)

The engineers at the factory go to endless lengths to get the correct wheel size, related to gearing, road holding, ground clearance, etc - why on earth mess with it?

You are already talking to someone who lowered their suspension thinking they know better than german engineers.

It's unlikely they will listen to you regarding the wheels/tyres.

Came lowered. I have never altered any of my vehicles - ever.
Also came with all the sporty add-ons factory fitted.

Mike just don't. Leave the car as it is now. 16s is ridiculous to fit on the Audi. I'm not going to point out everything - that's done already.

Mike, I'm very glad you changed your mind, cause with your low rider, high profile tyres would have looked utterly ridiculouse....

Yes, the bigger your rim, the more expencive the tyres is, even if they have less rubber on it :( Go figure!

Perhaps goto a tyre fitment place and let them see what is the smallest rim that you could fit and start working from there.
17" is becomming more popular, so perhaps prices might get better in furture.
Currently anything over 17" is horribly overpriced :(

Why would any one "lower" a car, I mean really. Come on now. Unless you are a teenager please don't.

It's a VAG - you know the types that drive them...

It's a VAGina? Sorry - not young enough to understand some of this slang. Only thing a quick google of "what is a vag" turned up.

Besides - how about trolling somewhere else? Sure your post count is high enough that you don't need to keep pushing it?

205 from 255?
You will feel a difference in your drive and it won't be good. If you crash I don't think your insurance will pay out.
Also it won't fit, the offset would be 55? You probably need spacers.

The second number indicates the ratio of the width of the tyre to the sidewall height, not the offset

I like Vag, be it expensive to get and to keep. As you've realised, messing with the stock size isn't a good idea as it will affect among other things, your speedometer and odometer

AFAIK it means:Volkswagen Automotive Group - VAG
