Calculating Device Wattage and UPS Size

Hi Guys

First up sorry if this may sound like a silly question ... but I need some help, please. With the onset of load shedding again and working from home I am in need of a UPS to keep my laptop and 21inch LED monitor going. Looking at all these power supplies and trying to work out the power draw and what size UPS is required is driving me nuts?

Do I look at INPUT or OUTPUT? If I look at Input it looks like I am going to need a massive UPS.

Please help!!!

Why not post the labels on your laptop and monitor? It should be easy enough to determine your power draw from there.
 
You look at output.. there are online calculators, where you input voltage and amp from the power supply, which will give you the wattage at max draw..

Here's the bottom of my laptop and the power adapter for my LED screen which is pretty easy as it says 25w only noticed that now doh!!. The laptop is a bit tricky the power supply sticker is all scratched out

So what you are saying is if I use the output values from the power supplies on the calculator I will get a rating and I can work out what I need.
 
Laptop is 90W, screen is 25W

Watts = VxA

Best you get a Inverter, UPS isnt really meant as a backup solution, only to shut down the PC once the power is off.

2400VA Inverter is a better choice but all depends on your budget.

Power equals amps multiplied by voltage. Your monitor won’t use more than 28w

Nooit. get a 300w inverter from Midas or ACDC and a small deep cycle battery 50ah from any battery shop. Sorted
Thanks for this. WIll check with my buddy who has a Midas if he has this in stock? Silly question how would I keep the battery charged though?

Get an inverter with a built in charger, I would honestly not go to Midas for an inverter.

Look for the black and decker trickle chargers. Its a smart charger as well and wont break the bank.
