How would you synch the calender of Outlook 2010 between two PC's? They are both connected to the same network.

I have read a few pages on this, but seem to get some conflicting advice. Most involve 3rd party apps or physically copying the PST file.

The idea is that appointments on the calender can be updated and synched between the boss and a secretary automatically. Preferably in real time? Don't need necessarily need contacts, e-mail, etc. Calender is the important one.

Or is there a different solution (preferably free/open source :D) that might work? The only reason I mention Outlook is because that is what the boss is currently using, and I have a license in place to use it on the other PC as well.

Appreciate any help! :D

Are you running an exchange server?
This has a 'secretary' function that allows another user to see, share and add appointments to the boss' calendar

Unfortunately not.....never used it before. Might just have a peak and see.

Would prefer to get a solution without that though. ;D

Thanx for the idea.

This is a paid 3rd party app, but it is definitely worth the money.

Had a client who requested the exact same thing, and he is very happy with it.

If your boss don't want to shell out the cash for a program which he is going to use every day, and which is possibly tax-deductable, then I feel very sorry for you.

Just noticed now that Outlook Sync's calendar function does not get disabled when the free trial expires.

"By downloading a free version, you get a 30-day, fully functional trial of CodeTwo Outlook Sync. Once a trial period expires, the program shifts to demo mode, but you will still be able to sync default Outlook calendar and contacts folders. You can use it in demo mode as long as you want."

As long as you don't need to add more calendars, it will continue to function indefinitely, so you don't need to pay for it after all.

This is something that changed after I did the installation a few years ago.

OP wants the sync to happen in real-time automatically, and he did not specify if he is using a Microsoft email account.

He is also not using Exchange Server.

Don't need to use a Microsoft email account, just need a Microsoft account. It will keep the calendar in sync once it is setup on both user's Outlook, it won't be absolutely real-time but it will update the calendar every time it checks for new mails.

Don't need an Exchange server for it.

Just don't try to sync, it's not worth the hassle. Set up an account on Outlook.com, and add it as an account on both PCs' Outlook; that way you'll have an online calendar shared between them.
