Hi All,

I need to give clients my personal cellular number, but I would prefer not to. So here's my idea, please comment!

I will buy a sim card, put it in my cell, set up forwarding to my real number, then turn off the phone and put the sim card in my drawer. If I am on holiday, I can insert the simcard again and forward the number to a sysadmin in my team. So really this will give me a 2nd cellular number, both ringing on my real number, except clients will never have my real number(except if I call them obviously).

I phoned a few companies to find out how I can do this, and if anyone offers this service (preferrably with an API so I can script it), but no replies..

Another question though, how will the pricing work for this? Is there a call forwarding charge? Do i pay for the service? does the caller pay more? I have no idea how this works....

Any information will be helpful!

Thanks!

Hi, it works easily as described. You WILL pay for the call that is being forwarded from the sim that is in your drawer at whatever rates that sim charges. so good in theory but very pricey, as you pay for everything.

ok, so the payment will work as follows:

the CALLER will pay the normal phone rate, per minute or per second, regardless of the destination
the SIMCARD will pay for a forwarding fee, or for the whole call?
the RECIPIENT (my real number) will still receive this as an incoming call, i.e. no charges?

correct. Sim will pay from the second call is forwarded. Your phone will not be billed.
