I am looking for generic cartidges for my HP officejet all in one 8500 A which is th HP940XL

I simply cannot afford the originals

Does anyone know 1) if they work 2) where in Cape Town could I find.

Honestly I agree. Ink is crap expensive these days! I've used generics brands for a Brother printer I had and it worked fine. I'm not sure about HP printers but it should all work the same.

To be fair the 940xl cartridges do last quite long and work out cheap per page.

I recently replaced all mine after several months, costed me just under R1000 for 3 colours and one black xl.

My previous printer was a Lexmark piece of crap that chowed ink at a rate of R800 every one and a half months sometimes once a month! There is a big difference in how far different printers ink will get you.The HP 940xl is one of the most economical when it comes to cost per page.

Ink isnt expensive, inkjet is expensive because it includes the printer head and the ink.

I found an awesome company called Impression. 100 bux a cartridge

Nothing wrong with Buying Compatibles.

but this is where things get weird.
there are different grades in the compatible industry, so you get super cheap ones that are really bad and more expensive ones that are much better and almost the exact same thing as the original.
so if you buy too cheap they will give a bad experience.
if you buy too expensive you are not saving enough.
you want to find the middleground.

high quality compatibles at a good price.

I personally am a big fan of inksaver.
found the site because I was trying to find a how to guide on fixing a small problem on my printer. the blog on there actually helped me and I have been buying ink from them since then, witch is once.
