Ya, I think that is your problem right there you need steam to play cod black ops online. Or you have to stick to single player.

Yes but i've searched all over the web and they all say the same thing, even if they have Steam the problem is still their

Well using an anti-Steam crack is just looking for trouble. Wouldn't surprise me if you get a VAC ban or have your account disabled after 4-6 weeks for running 3rd party programs, just because you don't like Steam. Black Ops requires it, so no matter how much you hate it, its not going to change. Normally if I get that error, exit the game and restart it, should work, always does for me. If the problem persists, try a different account with another ISP and see if it does the same.

Steam is for anti-piracy it makes it so only one person can use a cd key. To play online steam needs to be active to communicate with the servers.
The anti steam crack you downloaded is more for people that have a pirated copy and want to play single player, then someone who owns the original and just doesn't like steam.
So without steam you wont be able to play multiplayer at all. So rather just install steam and see what happens, if the problem persists then try the solution I gave to you earlier.

Oh then how do i delete the crack

But then how do i backup my saved game??

I found mine here C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players , but without steam I don't know. Just search your install directory for a folder called players.

As matter of interest, from those who actually enjoy Black Ops, was it worth getting?

Its a cool game, but with all the glitches it gets irritating to play. If or when they sought out all the glitches it will be a very cool game.
