I'm getting really irritated by one of these please call me type bodies (079-7578198), who has been pestering me for about two weeks now (both calls and SMSes). My phone doesn't have any built-in blocking abilities (SE's version of 2.1), so have been looking at apps to do the job. I've installed Call Control as it has reasonable reviews/ratings.

Anyone tried anything else?

My ROMs have always had it build in.

But then again, a 4.3 star rating with almost 15000 reviews can't be wrong. That's what I'd go for

I use Call Master, its about R30 does call and message filtering, but if you like me and hate the stock messaging app you can install GoSMSPro which is free and probably a billion times better than the stock rubbish.

Simpple little adds like scheduled messaging, private boxes and folder, popups and message filtering and blocking.

This is one of the main reasons I LOOOOVE MIUI.

It has build in DND(Do Not Disturb) function that can even be set based on time/day of the week. Hate being woken up when I am not on call, yet I can whitelist people that can ring anytime.

I doubt any app will have all the functions a built in root access app will have but a quick google gave me a couple of hits like BlackBaller and Call Blocker

Can you point me to the link for MIUI please? I can't find it on XDA.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Call Control has just blocked my spammer twice, so I'll give it a bit more trial time.

Hmm, sorry to revive an old thread - but I have a similar problem.

I tried to get a SMS spam filter to filter out spam in my sms inbox. But it seems like all the spam filters I tried only filter new incoming messages. I know goSMS can filter after the fact, but I don't want to use a different sms client. Does anyone know of the a filter I can use?

THe only one I use is call master, I have not tried many others. I found one that worked and stuck with it.
IT does require root which is why it works so well, without root I dont think its possible to filter before the fact. CM works with a daemon that attaches to the network and filters it during the incoming transfer and can blockit before it makes it to your messaging app or dialer.

Been using it for about 2 years and have no reason to look back, works perfectly, many options and If I say block, it blocks.

It blocks numbers, number patters or in the case of sms, keywords is also an option. You will however ever then obviously need to get the message once and it would be better to use keywords as the spammers usually rotate numbers.

Hmm, tried call master. Looks really powerfull, but I can't see how I can filter before the fact.

As I said, you need to receive the message at least once to use to create the filters. Once your filter is set all matching messages will never make it as far as your inbox.
