Calling ALL 3G users using VODACOM or other ISPs.
TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR DATA USAGE AND FIGHT UNNECESSARY INTERNET DATA EXPENDITURE IN THE MOST EXPENSIVE INTERNET COUNTRY - SOUTH AFRICA!
Do you find that there is a discrepancy between the data transmission indicated by your VMCLite or other data transmission monitor and the amount of data indicated on the Account Manager (the account you have to pay for)? Or do you feel you are being charged for data you did not use?
Download Netlimiter (a small free program suggested by a Vodacom employee) from http://www.netlimiter.com/download/nl_2010_mon.exe and install it to start checking your REAL data transmissions! Compare these over a couple of days with your account manager (itemised billing) and if need be contact me with the particulars (where possible only summaries, make screen-shots of discrepancies and keep good records!).

i Canceled my Vodacom contract. Are with MTN now, with a prepaid data card. Works best.

You are being very BOLD aren't you?

BTW, 90% of the users on this board already know about netlimiter. It is the first thing we suggest to get people to check their usage! ;)

Just thought I would point that out! :)

Uhm, thanks, but I found out about Netlimiter while I was in the process of getting 3G, researching these things helps quite a bit, oddly enough.

That was almost two years ago, and have put numerous friends and acquaintances onto Netlimiter since.

Not that Netlimiter is going to help much, it only captures the amount of data that goes through at application level. What ISPs charge for is the amount of data that is going through at hardware/network level. So there will always be 10% discrepancy (roughly) between what Netlimiter reports and what the ISP reports.

However, if the discrepancy is much larger than that then there is reason to look into it.
