Is anybody out there working on or capable of creating a balance widget?

Something I can download and will run the necessary ussd codes on an hourly basis and updates the widget on the screen with my voice data SMS or credit balance.

I would happily pay for something like this and I am sure many others would.

Lol. These programs must be new. I look a couple of months ago and didn't find anything. Thanks guys.

No problem, and nope, its just my Google skills that's awesome ;)

I was honestly going to write one if I didn't find it.

I don't know but this isn't exactly what I wanted, and probably not what the OP wanted either.

It only allows you to check to a certain point, where a normal widget would also work.

like on mtn if you want your balance, it is *162*passcode*1# and then you get prompted to type in something else. Lets say you want option 1 you can't go *162*passcode*1*1#to get there.

The 1st one allow for custom codes?.... if you want I can install and check?

I did install it, and it does allow custom codes, maybe I am just not using it correctly yet.

Lemme know I did see there was many of that type of apps on the market, so I dont want to waste time in creating something that is available.

Hmm, there still is a problem with this thing. It doesn't do the USSD command automatically. You still have to choose the options. So this could be done with a basic contact widget too.

I know its a workaround but you can always use tasker, I loooooove that app and if its the only one you ever buy this should be it. As it has so many functions it should actually be part of Android if you ask me.

Any case I will look at this within the next month or 2. Will let you know when its done. Just going to be overwhelmed within this week when my tablet comes. I need to push out a App for the office 1st.

That app does look nice, but the thing is I can't even type the USSD command in one command manually to get to where I want to be, so I don't think this will work either.

I don't think this can be done unless you can simulate the keybord interrupt (from my limit ASM/C++ knowledge on this topic, don't know if android works like this) and then add the extra command in there. I wanted to write an android app, so maybe I will give it a shot if you say it is possible.

I haven't looked at it at all from a code perspective of how I would do this, but simulating key interrupts over USSD on a schedule is 100% possible. It would be the same as letting a app "dial a number pause then extension" that I have done before.

I will give it a shot then. I am also a bit busy, but I think I should be able to get started before you do. But I still have to get into the whole android developing thing.

Like I said you will have at least a 2 month lead ;)

If you can do Java, its actually very easy to pick up.
