Ok, here's the deal: I'm sick and tired of researching for an ISP who might or might not meet my demands. So here's your chance to apply for the job of becoming my future bandwith supplier. :)

This is what I need:
~ 40 GB volume/month
min 4096 speed
ultra low latency for gaming
reliable connection 24/7/365
lowest price

I DON'T need this:
ADSL line (as it's supplied by Telkom)
router/modem (got already)
shaping
throtteling
high prices
dropping connections

Can you do this?

Apply here and maybe we can arrange a healthy relationship.

um yeah... good luck with that. The reps are not here to do marketing... pretty much only PR and tech support. You are better off asking the other users here for their input and advice.

Yeah exactly. Nice try but they will promise the world and deliver nonsense.

Hmmm, so you guys think I'm a bit over optimistic?

Ok, so then I'll ask all my co-forumites. Right now I'm torn between AH's 20+20 deal and PCFL's offerings. Anyone already has some experience with those?
I used to be a AH uncapped customer but was never quite satisfied in terms of latency and shaping. What still seems ok when browsing websites already is a showstopper when gaming.

Optimistic? Yes, of course. The expectation that there would be reps on the forum in the first place is not reasonable, never-mind that they must now personally attend to your need for information that it already floating around the forum already, in all likelihood. :p

Why don't you contact TRL Tech? All their capped accounts are unshaped - have been using them for a few months now without any problems. Visit their website at www.trltech.co.za.

Only way you going to get this is with a diginet line from telkom which is flippen expensive!!!! 2mb=R6500 uncapped unshapped

I wouldn't trust an ISP that doesn't have a working website and also hosts said website internationally.

Same ol...try Mweb, OpenWeb, WebAfrica, Axxess...in that order. Otherwise It's better to save up for a Visa, Lawyers and move overseas.

As my name suggests I'm indeed German (you can see in my crappy grammar and hear from my zeckzy jerman akkzent), so I'm rather busy waiting for a permanent residence permit in SA.

Ok, guess I'm going with AH's 20+20 special and just hope it'll truly be unshaped.

I'd be interested to know how that goes. Being a fellow German. Well, grew up here but can speak a bit of German.

Afrishost ist sheisse, aber Mweb ist toll.

Die Bandbreite von Afrihost kommen aus IS und die FUP von IS est sheisse nach die formung wann die anwendung ist die top 20%.

Afrihost ist sheiss

PS: My german is quite crappy, so I'm trying here :D

What's wrong with their website? It is fully functional from here...
It is not the hosting location that is important but rather the uptime - just my 2 cents.

Its working now - certainly wasn't when I first posted.
Local hosting is not that much more expensive anymore and any uptime benefit that you think you are getting from your international host is negated by the failures on international Internet connections to ZA. I also think it makes the ISP look cheap... just my opinion though. ;)

Can't seem to find it on their website...

LOL, yaya, I kinda sorta understood what you said BUT the 20+20 special is a hard capped account, so there can't be a top 20% in this case. They should provide full speed internet all the way. I shall go that way ... I guess ... or not ... or maybe ... dunno ...

What do you mean by "ultra low latency for gaming" ?

Is that Local IS / SAIX / Pick one of the local backbone owning ISP's, or do you want sub 250ms latency to EU / AU / USA / CHINA, and, do you want that low-latency to be 24/7 or is off-office hours okay? In fact, do you have a landing point in mind?

I have not even looked at your other vague requirements.

Some potential customers simply do not actually tell you what it is that they want, and then complain when you offer something else.
Pffft.

Dave, I have to admit I'm not the most educated guy when it comes to technical stuff - as a customer I shouldn't be required to. I only know I want low latency since it doesn't make sense pressing the forward arrow and then wait up to one-and-a-half-seconds before my avatar finally starts walking. I'm in Second Life with all servers located on the US westcoast. Where else should they be?
I guess MyBB is the only local site I ever visit. So of course I want low latencies to servers overseas. And for the best ping international one needs SEACOMM, right?
And what do you mean with landing point? Do I need to know that stuff? Heck, I'm sitting behind my computer and surf the net, not walking down the beach looking for fiber cables coming out from the ocean.
Meanwhile I see how SA is falling behind international standards more and more. In Germany you can now use cable TV connection for internet. Up to 120 MB speed, flatrate (incl. national telephone) for around R 600/mth. And there nobody knows where any servers are located, or what the feck a server is.

I posted this statement already a dozen times: We're discussing the internet here, not the afrinet!

So, to make the matter short and simple: I want ultrafast, reliable, uncapped, unshaped internet, payable as a monthly flatrate, incl telephone and maybe even TV.

Any takers?

Absolutely beautifully put!!! I can't help with the internet issue, but if you were in Port Elizabeth I'd buy you a beer. Flip... The above is exactly what we need, not the BS that we're putting up with now...
