*sigh*
I got a E8500 for my PC last week (E0 stepping), and It ran kinda hot so I decided to ditch my Big typhoon, and rather get a Thermalright TRUE, coz i really want to start overclocking it!
So I did the install today after lapping the base of the HF to a perfect flat finnish, and mounting the Cooler by tightening all the screws to the max. (its got really good contact)
I used OCZ freeze for thermal compound. And I also attached 2x120mm fans in push-pull configuiration.
Lets turn the pc on....
I was absolutely crushed to see that the TRUE made absolutely NO difference in temps, and its still high as before....
So now my temps are EXACLY the same as before, 46 Idle, and 56 load.
When I run prime95 for a while the temps max out at 61 degrees
Next, I tried to do a Small OC, from 3.16 to 3.2, just to see the idle temp rise to 50. Something is seriously wrong.
The only thing I can think is that I applied the thermal compound wrong, but Im 99.9% sure I did it right.
Can you guys PLEASE suggest something I can do to fix the problem, Otherwise my E8500 will never see a Overclock.
