Calling overclock GURU's, please help

What bios version are you running, E85 is supposed to be at least 0701 for E0 stepping and 0107 for C0 stepping

Dude do you have a normal 3 speed fan, put that in your box and see if there is a difference, its all good and well having 5 fans in your box but if your airflow is not right those 5 fans can actually make your box hotter.

*Gets popcorn and awaits Aerocool promo speech :D*

2 intake at the front, 2 exhaust at the back, and one blowing on my GFX card...

Did i mention that the fans on my CPU cooler is 1900rpm Scythe fans moving around 80CFM?

Just a silly question but why did you lap the TRUE and did you try the TRUE first without lapping ?

Yea but if that 80cfm is hot air your going to have a problem, it can move 160cfm but if the air is hot what will it help.

Lol zen i moved onto bigger and better thing like a coolermaster hsf 932 which is just amazing :), still a 40cm fan does sound enticing lol

I got a 5-7degree temp difference when I lapped my Big typhoon. read online reviews, people suggested lapping the TRUE, with improved temp readings.
I did the razorblade test to check the 'flatness' of the TRUE before the lap, and it was horrible. The CPU on the otherhand was quite good

Nooo dude...how will I rip you off now:p

WRT cooling: It sounds like plasticMonkey has some good cooling going on, similar to my setup. Negative Pressure FTW!

So you lapped without testing first ?

All i can suggest is lap the cpu as well and hope for the best or you can try send it back for a replacement but i do not think that will work.

Try a stock cooler and see what temps you get.

Lapping the CPu isnt really an option, Will void any chance I have of sending it back...
Im going to install the stock cooler first thing tom ,and report back with temps...

Is the heatsink itself hot?
That is while the system is running when you touch the heatsink, is it hot? if its not its bad contact, if it is, then the CPU just runs hot no need to panic. You can take it back or live with it. Its very hot this time of year in SA so ignore all the people who say they have CPU's idling in the 20s unless they are in air conditioned environments... If outside temp is 27'C air cooling at best will get you 15'C above that....

As for lapping, don't do that without testing first. People say allot of things on the internet and your cooler might be different from the next guys... Lapping is also 90% overrated

K.... So early this morn I removed my TRUE, and put the stock intel fan on.
Idle temp 55-57. I ran Prime 95 and the temps shot up to about 67-68 instantly, when It reached 69 I stopped the bench. (after bout 30secs)
Could this qualify as a 'faulty chip'?

I reinstalled the TRUE afterwards, sitting on the exact same temps as before, 46idle, 56-60load...

I would expect them to replace it.
I know what it feels like, you're never gonna be happy with it, so I definately think you should get them to replace it, just be straight with them.

Who IS "them" anyway?
