Registering smoothwall to mySmoothwall failing, which means I can't get updates and I see SP1 is out for version 3. Question why is smoothwall not registering, yet I can connect to the web.

My setup does not include an ADSL (or any other modem) as it is on a diginet line, smoothwall -> cisco router -> ISP.

what happens if you run

Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.machineregister

from the commandline?

This is called from the

Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.netaddress.up

script upon bootup.

Code:
just couple steps to unregister smoothwall fo re-register it:
1:login to your smoothwall with putty
2:put those commands to your putty
1 command:echo "" > /var/smoothwall/main/ownership
2 command:touch /var/smoothwall/notregistered
3:and you have unregistered smoothwall... now its time to re-register it

Also the same in this thread : http://community.smoothwall.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=30654&hilit=smoothwall+register

Once you've unregistered it, try re-registering it, see if this helps.

If not, I'll put up a post then.

Cheers

Libs

PS : registering a smoothie is not a critical function, yours will perform just as well as one who's already registered. Unless you're a perfectionist :D

Just an update, without doing anything the Smoothie decided to connect and I could register the Smoothie and run updates.

It's called Smoothwall Express, not "Smoothie". Like people who refer to a laptop as a lappie.

It makes me cringe.
