Calls from +1234567890

Weird thing - one of my colleagues showed me earlier in the week that he got a call from +1234567890. As he answered the call it ended.
I also received a call from that number today!!! And, same as his, call was ended as soon as I picked up.
Anyone else experiencing this? I'm wondering if it's some telemarketing scheme to see if your line is active or something?

my niece lived in pta and had a phone number at a time 0123456xxx if i am still remember it right

Cool, but that number would appear as +27123456789, this one is +1234567890.
Can't be a real number though, coz it would be +1 for the States, 234 for the area code and then 567-890 as the number - missing a digit then...

I also got a call once from some weird number once. They put me on hold, and a lady came on the line after a few. She got a call from the same number, was put on hold and then we were "connected" to each other. I thought she called and she thought I called, we were both very confused. I called the number back and it did go through, I was put on hold and some k@k music came on. I didn't have time to waste, so just put it down. I think it could be some telemarketing thingy. (I HATE telemarketing BTW)
