Camera Filters

Do filters have a thread on the other side too ... So on can attach two filters?

I've read about making your own ND filter with two polarized filters - anyone tried it?

Yes you can, remember the lens cap still attaches to the front, and it hooks onto the thread.

I'd imagine you can, I just have no idea how well it would work.

Thanks for the reply.

I've just gone to Sandton to check out a few ND filters. They seem to start at R400.00-R800.00 for a fixed ND range ... and then R1,500.00-R4,000 (!) for the variable!

Online, it says making your own requires 2 x polariser filters ... but (unless you get the cheap one), two filters is going to set you back R1,200.00 anyhow. I think it's better to rather save up and buy a variable

The two polarising filter method works though it's better if you mix a linear and a circular.

I did ask about linear .... he said it was for film and they don't sell them anymore?
