Hey guys, which of the following cameras would you advice for a casual photographer?

Samsung DV300F
Canon IXUS 240 HS
Sony HX60

If anything else, I have a budget of about R1500.

Bump !

Was going to post almost the exact same question.

Casual photography... What's the best camera for R1200.

It will be a family camera and they're all clueless, so don't say SLR. :D

Hell. No one with any opinions ?

EDIT: Can anyone find me a better/more recommended deal than this ?

Have a look at the Canon SX160. Great value in my opinion.

I saw some of the Kodak shops has them for R1199 with a 3 year warranty.

Thank you. That's the one in the link I posted. :p

EDIT: and it's going for R999 at Incredible.

That looks like a pretty good deal!
I've found Canon compact cameras to be quite good. That one isn't a tiny weakling either, but a good size with a nice sensor and nice optical zoom for your casual mik-en-drukker.

And for R999? That's a great price!

(Too bad it's at Incredible Corruption, though! Hate that shop.)

keep in mind that IC only gives you a 2 year warranty for the R999. Where the Kodak shops gives you a 3 year warranty for R1199

I have played with it in store and is nice little camera with some real good features
