Cameras on N1

Hi All

If you travel north on the N1 just a little bit before the centurion split there are police with a little round camera there most afternoons.

This does not look like a speed camera. Does anybody know what the camera is for? Counting the cars maybe?

I sometimes see it as well on the N1 north just before the bucchleuch interchange.

They are used for traffic monitoring / early warning systems (for accident notifications).
They all run via private fiber links to a massiv NOC. There use to be a website where you could view the cams, but it has since been taken offline.

I'm not talking about the white ones on the poles, these are temporary manned cameras linked to a generator.

Then they speed cameras. Unless its got something to do with construction of some sort.
