I wonder how many campers there are on mybb? I love camping, not out in the wild, but in a neat resort it's nice. I have most of my equipment already, gathered over the years. But I never got a freezer/fridge. If you know something about these stuff, any ideas where to start looking, apart form the big outdoor shops, who is just out to make loads of moola.

:eek::eek: Why why why would you want to camp if you are not in the wild and forced to. :(

Nope thanx room service for me or i'm not going. I do not want to do the dishes when i'm on holiday. :p

Then you don't really need an expensive camping freezer. If however you have a bit of tin to blow, Engel is the way to go ... unfortunately, unless you're prepared to shop around for a 2nd hand one, you're going to have to buy one from a "big outdoor shop" or one of the smaller boutique outlets like 4X4 Megaworld

Otherwise take a look at getting a quality stainless steel / fibreglass icebox - you'd be surprised how long they stay cold especially if you use hot ice as your coolant. I've had bitterly cold Windhoeks for over a week in Makgadigadi with a fibreglass box

I love camping but also do not have a fridge/freezere yet. Then again, I find a coolbox with ice works just as well for me
Same here - ice packs and cooler bricks last me a weekend easy.

Thing is we normally camp for 2 weeks. I know a cooler box can do, but it's not worth it. I have one now, but the vacuum packed meat didn't last a week. For a weekend a coolerbox can do, but not really longer but I think a Engel is way out my budged. Another thing is, I'd like the deep freeze to be 220V and 12V.

The cooler is just for the beer - real men hunt and forage for their supper. :p
