Camping Gear Thread

Have to agree with the issue of packing it up if just wanting to go somewhere else quickly hey.

But I reckon I won't be letting go of my standard tenting rig either.

But the awning would be lekker for hot days and pit stops along the road.

And I suppose I could also just move the car as required to keep up with the sun if needed on camp.

But it's something I'd still like to keep on the back burner.
But if I do make the move to a Bush Lapa Kiewiet Trailer/Caravan, it would nullify the wall kit.

Awnings and gazebos are great so if you are buying it for that it will be a good addition to your kit. I've had a few different kinds over the years but I've learned the vehicle needs to be quick to hop in and go do something and not a permanent fixture of the camp.

Got myself a Tentco Sahara Junior tent on Facebook Marketplace.

Had a shakedown camp at Victoria Bay from the 16th to 19th March, not April as stated pre edit... :D

Really enjoyed the rig, very spacious and was flummoxed on the first morning when I woke up and the sun wasn't shining through, unlike my previous cheaper tents lol.

And I could actually pack everything back into the bag.
50kg all in packed.
Biggest surprise was that I didn't realize how long the damn poles are and how much space they take up.
But as it's just the wife and I with our Ford Everest, it's manageable for us.

Anyone able to recommend a lekker camping spot with hot water springs, that actually has some seperation/privacy from the other campers? Just need a hedge at least man.

Kleine Paradys seems nice, but sites are too close to each other.

The Baths in Citrusdal could be an option, but the no music policy throws me. Not that I want to play loud music, I just enjoy some background tunes or playing guitar.

I doubt playing guitar would be an issue? ‘Music’ (especially with booze in the mix) on the other hand ruins the peace for everyone else. All decent camp sites have the same rule.

No decent camp ground will allow music, its a recipe for disaster.
Klein Paradys have private stands on other side of dam with much bigger space between them, but I dont think its the place for you. I have seen the owners throwing drunk noisy people out at 2am in the morning, they helped them pack.
If you want to play music go to an atkv resort or does Omaramba still exist? Lekker gomgat place that.

You camped with it last year or camped with it next month?

I've seen a YouTube video earlier, that showed the private, enclosed and pet friendly site which could work for us.

Ja, I've got my campsite for wild abandon, but just looking for spots for the wife and I in this instance.

And I'm not talking about blaring music at full volume.
Just sitting around a fire or reading a book with subtle music playing only for me to hear.

Then perhaps it'd work for me at The Baths too.

Not looking to "bring the house down".

And also not any music late at night.

I had a very different idea coming in here. Should the topic maybe be updated to Car Camping Gear?

Even in the day... If everyone did it it would not be lekker. Afrikaans treffers on the one side, and ghetto rap on the other...
