Can A/C compressors be repaired ?

So Merc tell me the A/C compressor on my A170 has failed. I heard a bang and it spilled oil out onto the engine. A new compressor costs about R8 000.

Does anyone know if these can be repaired ? I don't trust these guys anymore.

Go buy one at a scrapyard, have it serviced and seals replaced and you'll save a fortune.

I do however want to know if the old one can be repaired as Merc never mentioned that as an option.

There are some bots that can be repaired as far as i know. Just depends what actually is broken. Where are you based. Where are you based?
