Hi,

My Aunt's husband recently passed away.

This has left her finances in a state of chaos.
She is also pretty much stranded at home as she can not drive.

Her only way to contact the outside world is her phone.

Every month I have been paying her bills when she gets an sms demanding money from MTN.

This month there was a double whopper thing that happened and her outgoing calls have been suspended. Some tax or another (no idea as I never saw the sms itself).

Anyway, as she could not get hold of me she got her neighbour to help her (she is not at all technically inclined and does not have an internet connection, her phone is still an old nokia).

The money has all been paid but she can still not make calls.

Please assist as she is getting rather frantic.

She is a 90 minute drive from me, I do my best to help as I can but I can't do a 3 hour trip a day after work to check that she is ok every day. My wife is 6 months pregnant and I have a 6 year old at home.

Astro,

PM Voldemort.

He works for them, and helps when he can, but he is not on everyday.

in the meantime get your aunt to call 808 (the only call she can make).
She must select the number 0 when the options are read.
That will let her speak to an operator.
She can then ask about getting her outgoing calls restored.
She can phone them now if she wishes...

I don't know if eMpTyN will respond here. If their service here is the same as their customer support, then you might struggle. Ironically, I have to suggest that you contact their customer care and ask for the accounts department to assist. I good friend of mine used to work at the yellow - when she comes online on Skype, I will ask her if she can give me a direct number so you don't have to put up with pressing a brazillion numbers to get somewhere.

I'll see if I can get her to do this, in fact my dad is going there this morning, i'll try get him to do it for her.
Still not sure what this extra tax charge thing is about, makes buggerall sense to me.

She is a nervous wreck at the moment so even a simple call may be beyond her.

Good luck with this. Hope you come right. Pm me if you'd like me to send her some airtime.

thanks Maumau but the problem is not the airtime, something with estates and accounts and her name not being on her bank card and other lawyer gobblytygook I don't get along with the phone being on her husbands name and not hers.

Anyway, I started a chat on facebook with MTN and they are assisting her :)
