Have some light switches in my house which are the Sonoff T1, which I dislike because of the lack of tactile/mechanical switch.

Other light switches I have sonoff mini connected to a normal light switch, but either you light switch direction and actual state go out of sync - or the only "non-positional" light switch is the majortech veti 2, which I have but are poor quality.

So I've been on the hunt for a smart light switch that a) has a mechanical switch. b) is available in 1,2 and 3 gang. c) can run on Tasmota

I saw this switch now, which seems to tick all boxes except it is a Tuya based device. I've done tuya converts on a couple of plugs, wondering if it will be possible to do this here too?

Depends on the controller chip inside. If its ESP based, it probably will run tasmota just fine. If its some other type controller, like you see another type in the CBI Astute, then no it wont run tasmota.

Have you tried a Shelly1 or Shelly2.5 instead of the sonoff mini to see if it works better? Shellies can be tasmotafied OTA but its better on the shelly firmware. you can also change the way the physical switch work to suite your preference. I highly recommend shelly with shelly firmware over sonoffs.

The only sonoffs I do see being usefull is the Sonoff zigbee bridge and zigbee device, and I think the sonoff fan controller is also useful. Especially since you not concerned about ewelink.

My issue is the physical switch... I have some Shelly devices too, and I do actually prefer them.
Regardless of whether I use Shelly or Sonoff - I still want a mechanical switch for switching my lights on/off, and that don't end up flipped the wrong way around because I've used the app/automation.

Then go for momentary physical switches with the shellies?

Challenge I have with these is that there is no way of knowing if the light is on or off then (say it's a switch for an outside light)... you won't be able to see if it's on during the day.

My requirements probably seem very specific, but I don't think it's that crazy or particular - just a challenge to find something that I'm really happy with.

Ah ye that's a 'non issue for me. I have an automation that run every few minutes that turns off outside lights in case they are on.

So no need to see they are on by looking at a switch.

Automate everything so I do t have to worry about it. Only worry if the automation stop working.

Those are only 120V, not 240V, so they won't work in SA unfortunately.

If you read the spec sheet at the bottom
