I know nothing about 3d printing, but I want to print something out. It's a lens filter holder, so it would screw onto my current camera lens (77mm) and then I screw a glass filter into that one (48mm) It may sound weird or confusing but I attached a picture.

Ok so this is what I can't figure out: I found an .STL file of a similar thing but the two sizes aren't correct for me, there is an outside size and an inside size. I can't work out how to adjust those two sizes, which should take like 1 minute to do. I need an outside size of 77mm and and inside size of 48mm.

Can anyone please help me on this :)

Why not just get Fusion 360 and make something to fit your exact dimensions then export the STL from there?
 
Is it just basically a washer shaped thing? How thick is it?
 
One minute to edit. 4 hrs waiting for the thing to edit.

All the info is in this thread not sure what else you need.
 
There is a 3d design program called 123D. It is for kids. fusion360. Autocad and the like is extremely difficult compared to it.

There a youtube tutorial video also on it. it is slightly dummed down but you can build mechanical working gearboxes with it. I designed a complete working model train with tracks on it.

easy tiger there is no voetsekking here, how was I supposed to know that, I thought you could just reduce the size inside and it would scale it automatically.

You weren't. Hence stop making assumptions about how easy it is. Anyway, you probably need to draw this from scratch rather than modify the stl. It's more work modifying this than actually just creating it from scratch.
 
would that program 123D be able to make a thread pitch? Then I could give that a bash from scratch as you say :)
 
ok cool, I will try the Fusion360 and see if I can master it :)
Spiff is giving it a go, as long as it doesn't come out as a 12" rubber dong.. that would be embarrassing to print out at a shop :ROFL:
