I am technologically impaired and so I need to know if anyone can help me. I have an ADSL USB Pots modem connected to my laptop. This connection is working fine for internet and email. I have all the IP things set to "Obtain Authomatically". I have an ethernet (I think thats what you call it) patch cable to a PC in another room. I have managed to get the setup between these two systems working fine in terms of being able to access and share files on the two systems. I cant seem to get the internet to work on the PC. I have run the netwrok setup wizard on both, enabling the internet connection sharing on the laptop. It seems that I have to put in IP and DNS numbers into the newtwork settings on both systems. Can anyone give me an indication of what IP and DNS and Subnet Mask numbers I should use. On the PC I only have one network connection showing on the list of connections. The laptop shows me a Broadband Connection (the ADSL) and underNetwork Bridge it shows 1934 Connection, Local Area Connection, Homenet Connection (this the connection between the two systems) and Network Bridge connection.

Can some clever person tell me what to do and how I should set this lot up. Unfortunately I am not to sharp with IT stuff and so you will have to use words and thing I can understand.

Thanks

Dave

You only need to set your other PC to "obtain an IP address automatically" as the network setup wizard configures the laptop to gives out IP addresses to other PC's connecting to it via the local network.

Nothing else should be required.

Make sure that your firewall is configured to "trust" the laptop (should be IP 192.168.0.1)

Good luck.

(BTW - I don't like the ICW as it does bollocksy things like these from time to time...)
