Your phone to be dead for a month, weather to cause your connection to drop every few secs, line to be only able to sync at half of what it has been for months and your line stats to drop by half? 2 days after a technician fixed a line fault?

Apparently this is what my issue is.

No...its a flakey physical link in the wire somewhere

You'll need to get a techie and provide evidence and/or be friendly and explain the situation.

sounds like what happended to my line.

turns out there was water in the manhole and exposed joints....
exposed by people doing illegal calls.

so yeah, as was mentioned - bad linking...

except this has been ongoing for 2 years, 3 different poles with corrosion, now suddenly the issue is congestion. 8 faults logged possibly more i've lost count, same issue every time just a different line/pole. nearly a month since i logged a fault and still waiting for a technician. Afrihost and telkom = useless

Keep calling, even if the line has a light crackling sound.
Be a pain in the ass with reporting.

Eventually they will send out a "quality control" dude (called another name). He will then investigate. But to get him out you need to have logged more than X calls in, I think, 3 months. It has been a long time since my problem waa solved, so cannot remember exactly. I think I was logging a call every 10 days or so.

Oh, and that month old fault.....

By 2 weeks I would be calling at least every second day.
The call centre people don't like being nagged, the they up the importance of the fault.

Definitely a line fault .
Keep reporting and ask for a rebate for non working line , then they going to get their shyt together.
Once it starts costing them money they tend to do some thing about the problem.

You can't log more faults if you have a fault open already, so this fault is just sitting open with not a single bit of progress for almost a month. And going to somebody elses house and sitting on the phone for 40mins waiting for a consultant isn't really an option. We did that once and they asked "has nobody been yet", we wouldn't be calling if they had. 10 days later still nothing.
Afrihost were the ones that logged the fault and also waited about 10 days for them to reply only to tell me the issue is congestion according to telkom, obviously they didn't give any usefull info when they logged the fault, such as my phone being completely dead.

Its your physical line in your house not the pole, get them to replace the wire in your house.

Got a reply from TelkomZA on twitter

Hi, your fault was linked to a network outage which has been resolved, your specific fault has now been handed to a tech to investigate.

Can't they multitask, they could have sent a tech ages ago fixed my issue and then i could have just waited till the network fault was sorted.
