I've never used roaming before and don't ever plan to but was just wondering what would happen if you load a data bundle on your phone and travel abroad with roaming enabled? Would your data bundle not be active? And why not?

bundles are not valid out of SA.

You get charged a BIIIIIG per meg rate.

Cheaper to get a prepaid sim in other country.

Yeah I figured as much. Just don't understand why though. Is it not the equivalent of filling your vehicle up with fuel, transporting it to another country and then being told that your fuel can't be used there. Ok dumb analogy but you get what I mean.

lolz at car analogy.

No...it most certainly can not be used in other countries. The GSM networks charge each other big bigs for users roaming on the networks and the home network has got no choice but to pay...and that gets passed on to you.

A better analogy would be a train. You want to jump on a train from Cape Town to eg. Mozambique and now all of a sudden expect that your CT-JHB ticket should actually allow you to travel past JHB into Mozambique and beyond. Haikona boetie. You would need to pay a bit extra so that Mozambique can lay tracks and stuff from the border all the way to wherever you want to be...
