Ok, this might sound fairly dumb, but can I connect the xbox 360 directly to a PC LCD screen and if so would it then be HD? I currently cant afford a HD TV!!
Do I need any special cables or adaptors or anything?
Basically my 19" CRT monitor not to happy with eishkom load****ting and has gone dark, so I need a new monitor so I am considering the 19" LCD for my PC.
Here there are also a few options, is there a difference between a regular LCD and the wide screen LCD?
For example the Philips model 190S7FS with resolution 1280X1024 is the same price as the 190SW8FB wide screen but the resolution here is 1440x900, so is there a difference between the two and which one is better?
Lastly would it really even make a difference how I see the games - currently I play on a 84cm regular Akai TV but the graphics appear to be damn good anyhow _ I can spot the smallest movement in COD4 so will I really see a difference on an LCD monitor?

Thanks bwana for the quick link - though I am more confused because the dude says there that he go a better picture with a crt monitor and also I am not sure now how to get sound...I didn't think of that one!

You can route the sound through your PC if you want. I think the MS VGA cable has an audio connector on it but you won't have volume control though.

I use the VGA cable and it works perfect. Try to get a LCD with dual inputs for your PC and Xbox then you don't have to switch cables. I use this one: http://www.incredible.co.za/services/catalog/moreinfo.asp?sku=62798
This works perfect if your PC video card supports DVI.

As feo said you just plug the Audio jacks from the VGA cable into your PC sound card. My speakers had a separate volume contol that I could use, so was no problem for me.

I have a 37" LCD but only play on my PC LCD.

Doesn't the VGA cable come with an optical audio out as well?

I guess it's only useful if your System supports it.

The official one does but some of the 3rd party ones does not. I use the optical audio and it works perfectly for 5.1 surround sound through my AX360 headphones.

I bought a logic3 VGA cable from Kalahari.net at R184 and it is awesome.
Yes it will then be Hd and it does have an optical for audio.
I have my 360/Pc audio through my amp for surround sound! :D

Hope it helps.

Getting back to the CRT vs LCD thing, I have also heard that a CRT will always give a better picture than a LCD...

CRT (PC monitors) are HD as well but they look kind of silly mounted on the wall ;)

Yes, but it's a software optional thing - ie up to the develoeprs.

Considering TV resolutoins are static targets, the games are designed around 30 or 60fps as a requirement, unlike PC's where it's a case "Lets push this baby as far as we can go!".

go for the widescreen resolution as xbox on 720p

=1360 * 720

so the 1440 * 900 should be a better fit.
