Can I get a higher connection speed?

I upgraded my ADSL line to 4mbps earlier this month, according to telkom my area can support 10mbps but I'm only syncing at 4mbps.

I have tried calling them but I end up waiting 30min + in their queue so I just hang up, can't be arsed to wait that long.

So I came here in the hopes that someone could answer my question.

as you can see my Attainable Rate is 9120kbps down so does this mean my line can sync at that speed? and if it does why isn't it syncing at that speed?

From what I could gather from telkom a few months ago was that I am quite close to my exchange to it should not be the length of the cable getting in the way.

What brand & model router do you have? It looks like the output of a D-Link router.
The D-Link routers should be able to sync at 10Mbps if you've selected the ADSL2+ modulation under Advanced Setup -> DSL.

However, I would recommend that you don't go higher than 8Mbps. I think you'll have stability issues even at 8Mbps, where as 6 or 7Mbps will give you much better stability.

Leave it at 4, with that downstream SNR, if you go anything higher it's going to lose synch very frequently. Sure you can push it to about 6 or 7 but get ready for it to drop every 15 minutes.
