Hi all,

So I bought a new modem/router this past weekend (Netgear dgn2200v4) from Computer Mania.

The problem is its dropping its adsl connection the whole time, once a day at least and sometimes freezing up.

Now my question is what can I do?

Can I get a refund on the product cause of the CPA, in terms it does not deliver the service it says it can (a know issue with this modem I am seeing)

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Firstly you need to identify if the modem is faulty or if your line is faulty. Also keep in mind Telkom is busy with ADSL line upgrades and this could also add to your problems.

Best is to just contact Computer Mania, personally I've found them to be one of the better stores with customer service.

Last modem is still fine.

If I go through the telkom with the line I will miss the 7 days after purchase and then wont have a leg to stand on for a refund, thats my concern.

I believe the CPA allows for the consumer to choose if they want a repair/replacement/refund if the item is less than six months old and is found to be faulty. That said not all retailers will agree to do that and might instead only offer a replacement from the manufacturer.

Like cbrunsdonza said best bet is to contact them and see what they say.

phone them both, telkom and computer mania that way you wont lose in on the refund deadline

The retailer is entitled to test the equipment. If not found to be faulty, they do not need to exchange or refund.
