Can I load windows on this iMAC???

Hi there i have an iMAC

* Processor speed: - 1.0 GHz
* Processor Type: - PPC, G4
* Installed RAM: - 512 MB
* Max. Amount: - 1.0 GB
* Hard Drive: - 80 GB, 5400rpm.
* Drive Bus: - Ultra-ATA/66
* Optical Drive: - This unit has an 2x SuperDrive built in.
* USB: - 3 Ports, USB 1.0
* FireWire: - 2 ports, FW400
* Original OS: - 9.2.2 Classic or 10.2 Jaguar

What bootcamp will work on this and will I be able to load windows any windows?
 
Dunno, but you listed a PowerPC CPU which the pre Intel Macs had.
 
oky cool so there is no way i can check to make sure cos this one looks really cool but is the one in the pic....screen is 17inch so dont know if it is a other cpu htan listed
 
I don't know whether you'd be interested, but you can install Linux on that. Debian and Red Hat both have a PPC version of their distros. Unless you specifically wanted Windows.

Mac OS 9 did not support Intel CPUs yet, so you're stuck with a PowerPC CPU, unfortunately.
 
Can't install windows on that, anything that shipped with Jaguar is way too old, even panther.

You know because I told you. The serial number of your machine reveals a lot, including the above. Also, the pic you posted: that kind of Mac - the soccer ball - was the second last PPC generation iMac. All INTEL imacs have a flat screen behind which sits the entire computer.

Try to secure Tiger or PPC Linux though. Were you able to create a new admin account?

Yes thanks mate.......its working now I have tiger on it i wanted to put 10.5.2 on it but didn't want to load

For Linux, you will find PPC versions listed here:

(Mint would be my choice)

For ram, you need to remove the bottom plate. Memory profile is:

Installed RAM: - 256 MB
Max. Amount: - 1.0 GB
Amount of Slots: - 2
RAM Speed: - 133 MHz
RAM Type: - 1 x PC-133, SO-DIMM, - 1 x PC-133, SDRAM

The iFixit guide for this model is non-existant but it uses the exact same profile as another model.

None of those, unfortunately. This thing uses older, slower ram. I think in fact it may be quite difficult to find that RAM but it could probably be had for next to nothing on ebay.

Sorry, RAM is something that I am not too clued up on when it comes to this machine.

What is the exact model of that iMac as there are 3 different types of RAM for the different iMac G4 models.

If you have the one that takes the smaller modules then they are SODIMM laptop modules. It has one 1x 200pin SODIMM socket and a normal 184pin DIMM socket. So you have two different socket types in one machine. The RAM could be either DDR 266 PC-2100 or DDR 333 PC-2700. Allowing you to go up to 2GB depending on the model.

Besides those it also has a normal DIMM slot hidden inside which requires you to remove the entire bottom panel, not just the flap.
