Can I Manage ADSL speed per computer on our network?

Basically my brother plays games all day, and bitches if anybody else uses the internet while he is playing cos it "makes him lag". So basically nobody else can use the internet (I also play online and my parents browse/email) except on the rare occasion that he leaves the house.
What I want to do is try to manage the allocation of speed to all pc's / phones using our ADSL connection.
Is there an easy way to limit each device on the network to like 1Mbps so that he can game at 1Mbps and somebody else can download/browse at 1Mbps without them affecting each other?

(We currently have a 1meg connection, but with Telkoms planned speed increases up to 2Mbps, then if I can keep my bro limited to 1Mbps he can't say his gaming is worse off)

Unless you want to setup another computer between the router & your home network, you can try something like this:

Alternatively, depending on what router you have, you may be able to setup some Q.O.S.

After a quick google, Netlimiter looks like it will do what I need, but I do have an old pc lying around and smoothwall looks like fun (if its as easy to get working as they claim). I think I'll give them both a try.

Very easy.

If it won't work, you may have your cables the wrong way round

Please correct me if im wrong but i dont think this will work.... gaming doesnt require a large amount of data but you do need good latency. The way net limiter works it will only limit data usage speeds and does nothing for latency.

Yep, that's what I thought. But I do use netlimiter as well if I need to complete downloads but wanna play a bit of BF3.. Not too much lagging...
