Can I order my IPhone already?

My next phone would have been...

I'm currently trying to figure out what the next phone will be (for me). I currently use a TyTn and are looking at either the TyTn II, Samsung i780 and a BB Curve.

As I posted before my ideal phone would be a 'business' version of the iPhone with a full slide-out keyboard. It's current touch keyboard is useless for serious e-mail writing.

My next phone would have been the HTC Cruise, but unfortunately Leaf could not deliver on the promised date (which was supposed to be months ago). So, in the mean time we heard the IPhone will grace us with it's presence, and HTC lost out.

;)

Well I'll say this much... Vodacom will have me breath down their neck if they run out of stock before I have my iPhone :P Seeing as I get 3 days of 'free' leave at work for 3 Saturdays' bits of work. I even have plenty of time to stand in a queue, well I'd like to avoid that though!

Hehe, nah in all seriousness, I hope we get a decent amount of stock in South Africa. Also hope if I walk into a Vodashop on Tuesday/Wednesday and say I want my name up on the list so I can be sure that I get one, that they won't look at me with a blank stare!

Maybe V3G can give us more info come Tuesday on how to go about making sure we get one? Pretty please V3g :)

I know it's nice for the companies when they can say "it's too popular", but there can be some real problems if the stock levels are not high enough. I can only assume you guys have also seen the generation 1 IPhone, and we all know that once the masses understand what it's about, there will be HUGE demand for the phone. As long as I have my two by then...

Yeah, judging by iPod sales. Most consumers generally only get into the whole thing once they see a friend's got one etc, then all of a sudden demand goes through the roof. So hopefully those of us that follow the action and know what's coming already have an advantage in ensuring a phone for ourselves :)

With regards to 'uninformed' consumer demand, I guess it depends how aggressively Vodacom is going to market the new iPhone in the time before it arrives?!
