Hi, can I use my toptv equipment ( dish, Lnb ) to pick up dstv on a dstv decoder? Maybe just have to move the dish a bit?

You have to move the dish a bit.
Quite a bit I would say. Depending on where in Johannesburg you are, you would have to move it about 106.8 degrees (true) in an easterly direction, about 14 degrees down and turn your LNB about 90 degrees clockwise.
all the information you need is available here: http://www.dishpointer.com/
For TOP TV you choose 4.8E Sirius 4 and for DSTV you choose 68.5E Intelsat 7

But do not take this as the alpha and omega! I might be totally wrong!

the dish yes, the decoder, no , you will have to get a dstv decoder

You need a different decoder. I needed to replace my LNB too when I changed over.
I did get a pvr though so I went for a satcr LNB to save running a 2nd cable.

Just as an aside, I turned and calibrated the dish myself.
It took a few mins and has been perfect for the last few years.
