Can I set auto connect ??? plz help

I have a marconi ADSL pots router. My problem is that every day when the ip adr changes the modem disconnects and I then have to logon to the modem control panel and connect manually. This is aaarrgg. So.... Is there a way to set it to auto connect when there is a request for the internet from any pc on the network ?

This is an USB modem you are talking about?

I also had one of them long time ago - as far as what I can recall I installed RASPPPoE - this has an auto-reconnect function

No it is the 4 port router. Whenever the ip change happens I have to go reconnect insite the router interface.

In your connection settings there should be a REDIAL IF LINE IS DROPPED option that can be turned on and off. Under PROPERTIES>OPTIONS.

Thanks for al the replies !!! I have found where you set the auto connect. For the ADSL 4 port helkom pots router you need to go into your router settings. Click on the router WAN settings where you would have set up the username and password to connect to the ADSL Service. Right on the bottom on the right hand side you will find a tick box you need to tic to set auto reconnect.

I have not had to connect manually now for 2 days. What a pleasure. Hope somebody else finds this info usefull.

yup thats the option you need to tick else everyday you need to restart your router, its also called a nailed up connection in the billion routers btw incase someone has one of those.
