i noticed the PVR decoder has a usb port.. is it possible to copy the recording on it?

LOL - I had to laugh for the title was very misleading. ;) Sorry but it just made me smile.

Those USB ports actually connect to a different Universe. One in which DSTV shows quality stuff and allows their people to plug in extra drives or download recordings to other devices. But in this universe they are pointless.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas; you've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone
:)

The USB ports were included in the reference design for the video processor thus they found their way onto the PCB parrot fashion, in the hope that someday the software dudes may make use of them. They can't even make use of the basic hardware without numerous bugs, let alone implement the nice additives such as USB master ports. Go figure.

No, they are not powered or connected on the mainboard.

In other words, they just fill the square holes in the back panel to prevent the roaches getting in. And, it looks more impressive.

They are used overseas from what I know, but MC in its ultimate wisdom decided to disable them in the software.

Hmmm... A nice feature would be if they allowed you to plug in a USB HDD to increase the PVR capacity!
