can I upgrade from voice package to data package??

Hi there everyone,
Just wondering since it's time for my contract upgrade if anyone knows how I can go about upgrading/migrating to a data contract to take advantage of Vodacoms laptop deals (macbook - mymeg500). I've spoken to almost 7 different ppl at vodacom and vodashop and everyone's ultra confused about this, like I was asking them to dissmantle a bomb...

Some have said it can't be done because I'm on a 24month contract and the data deals are all 36 month contracts. So I figure why can't they just "migrate" me to the 36 month data contract. One consultant even said it would be easier if I were coming from off the street and starting from scratch.....

If anyone knows anything, advice/help would be appreciated.

Why not buy the notebook on account. Works out cheaper.
