Can I use rain for a telegram account?

I had a prepaid vodacom sim to use for work telegram, but since I almost always use it from desktop the sim expired.

Is it possible to use Rain for a telegram account, given that you have to receive an sms to activate? I read on a mybb article that some services are able to send OTA activation smses.
