Hey peeps,

I've got ADSL on my side - and then a wifi link to my nextdoor neighbour with ADSL aswell.

i'm on 4megabit and he is on 384...both of us use PPPOE..

beside adding a 2nd network card on both machines - is there a method that we can try/use to stop the authentication happening on the other's adsl modems?

i really don't want to use his 384 - and i don't want him to use my 4mb :)

can't use router auth - i've got other people at my side that use their unique ADSL isp setups (saix unshaped, verizon unshaped).

any ideas?

ps - using ddwrt24 on linksys wrt54gl on both sides

ad mac address checking into the routers - both sides. that way only allowed mac address will have access to a specific router

Or, if you don't need wireless (connected via cable, just disable the wireless in the router

used to have the same proble.. then I just enabled WEP.. Why don't you do the same? (or WPA even)

Problem is that we use the wifi link for linux sharing :) but i don't want ANY internet sharing @ all.

Also possiblity that neighbour on left hand side also wants to hop on the wifi link...he is on 512 ADSL (using bridge mode).

so i've got to somehow sort this :)

You can create a VPN between yourself and him. Run the network as you normally would but don't route anything between yourself and him. Get openVPN or Hamachi (preferably) and then simply route your vpn IP addresses across the link.

dsl modem in bridged mode

I have PPOE icons on my desktops on my PC, laptop and my wifes laptop. Also a VPN type connection to my work on both my PC and my laptop. Hence my modem is brdiged. Because, I will click on the icon based on what I want to do, Surf the net or work. So, my xBox and my Wii now do not have an internet conection. So every time I want to go online with my consoles, I have to change my ADSL modem setting. Any help? I have another issue about sharing / newtworking, but lets get this sorted out first.
