Can ping servers but not surf. wtf?

Hi guys!

A few months back my dad bought a MTN 3G. Worked nice for a couple of months and then it just died. Anyway, he is rather upset cause it is for his business and all that. Anyway hope you guys can help.

It's a sierra data card 850 series.

The main problem seems to be something in the software, cause I can connect, but I cannot access the internet through IE/Firefox. The weird thing is, that I can ping google.

I switched off the firewall (both win and zonealarm) + AV and checked that the IE is set to use the right connection.

When I check the card watch, there are small amounts of data flowing. I also tried the help center. They were enthusiastic about helping but couldn't really help.

Anybody got any Ideas why I can ping servers but not surf?

Try WinsockXPFix. I had a similar problem. Could not access any web sites (Did not try to ping sites). This little program fixed my problem.

Yah!!! Works now

The prog did bomb out with some error, but only after fixing the problem.
