Alright so my internet speed has dropped from 100kbps to an astounding 30kbps.
So I checked out the bandwidth theft post and it all seemed to be about capped accounts nothing about uncapped(that I found).
So my question is can someone use my ISP account(telkom) on their ADSL line while I am using my one and if so will our speeds be halved or will it both be maxed out?

One account's capacity will be split.

Uncapped could also be ISP slowed or maybe a line problem.

First call telkom and ask for a port reset. It takes time so call from a landline.

Doesn't your ISP account need to be enabled for concurrent connections for this to work? Do Telkom uncapped accounts allow for concurrent connections?

Telkom Uncapped accounts allows for a single concurrent connection only, thus if you are connected via your phone line to the uncapped account, nobody else will be able to connect to the same account via a different phone line.

I don't know of any ISP who does this, please let me know if I'm wrong, would be interested to know which may provide this service.

Plugg's uncapped accounts allows for two concurrent connections: It was initially intended to be used at office (1) during the day and at home (2) after hours, by the same client.
However, me and my son live 700 km apart, and we share a 2 Mb/s uncapped account between two 1 Mb/s lines. This has worked quite well for us so far (about a year now).:)

So you mean you pay for a single 2mb/s account but you and your son can both use it but neither will be able to get 2mb/s speed?

That is correct. Each of us get max 1 Mb/s simultaneously. Apart from normal browsing, I am more into downloading with torrents, while my son is more into gaming. We have not noticed that we bother or influence each other yet.:)

That's cool, though on a related note, you should probably recheck your line speed. After a port reset you should each be up to 2mbps, so it could be time for a 4mbps account :)

Uhm alright I know this might sound a bit dumb but can someone hack my router like for the fun of it and screw with it because everytime I change the router password it just resets to the default one and sometimes it just randomly reboots or resets to factory settings.
Also I had a problem with ADSL sync and I noticed my modem retains sync longer when I have wireless disabled.

Any thoughts?
