I don't know anything about this. Ek het die ding seker aan die gat beet, maar kom ons probeer.
I have an inverter with two big batteries, that powers my PC for eight hours.

I once tried to connect a floor heater to it, and the inverter went crazy - started to beep for hours, until I got someone to disconnect the wires and reconnect them to the poles. I have no idea why that did not work, but my pc does.
I have an ancient plasma screen TV, which is close to my heart, but something tells me, that will be even worse than the heater.

In light of this, I am looking at buying a LED TV, for the time being. Now, considering that this inverter works fine with my PC and its LED screen (smaller though), will it work with the bigger LED TV? And if so, how many hours can I expect to get (i.e. how much more energy will the bigger TV LED screen draw as opposed to the smaller LED screen?
I know this is just rough numbers, but some ruff estimates and suggestions would be much appreciated
Thank you.

Make of Inverter and batteries?

Size of batteries?

Edit: The watts on that heater was obviously way to high for the output power of the inverter .... A TV draws way less watts

LED TV you're looking between 100 to 150 watts of power usage

There is no name or specs on the inverter, and the batteries are in a metal box, which I am physically unable to open. They big though and weigh a ton. I think were two truck batteries.

My guess will be that you don't know much about these things and that two batteries of yours are probably at the end of their lives because of being discharged too much many times.

If the batteries eventually die, which they inevitably will do, I don't mind getting new ones. They served me well.

For low power (up to 400 watts) your setup will work fine. If the batteries are ok, it will last 2-3 hours

The batteries are probably 2 x 105 a/h connected in series

How many watts is the heater?

How many watts is the inverter?

Heaters draw to much current.

Thank you all. Looks like I am going to buy the tv. Loadshedding's got me in bed 20:00 with my tablet to watch movies - it sux

Anything that has a heating element draws too much current, that is the general rule. It's amazing how many things we take for granted but I have always thought everyone knows never to connect their underfloor heater to an inverter.

Perhaps we need a sticky thread of what you are allowed and not allowed to do with a portable inverter, because it looks to me it's just a matter of time before something tragic happens.
