Can the DA win the Eastern Cape?

The DA officially launched its bid to win over the Eastern Cape this past weekend, with Athol Trollip announcing his mayoral campaign for the Nelson Mandela Bay.

They will have to do really well to gain an outright majority in the NMB metro and could well have to form an alliance with other minority parties to oust the ANC.

I don't share your confidence. In the "western" part the voter swing could well be from the ANC to the UDM and EFF, with the DA retaining its current base.

Pretty much this. Both the ANC and DA should get 40% each in NMB. The council will be held by whomever can form a coalition.
