Would a genuine gay dude ever risk being seen shopping in Pick n Pay clothing?

Having spent the whole morning in a nearby shopping centre and frequenting many stores (one including a PNP Clothing store) I was appaled at the way I was spoken to and treated. When I entered as I had done in all the other shops with my small shoulder bag on my shoulder the Security Officer advised I can keep my bag in the parcel counter (as the sign says its there for OUR convenience if we wish to use & I didn`t wish to use) as I have all my personal belongings in my bag such as my medication and prescription sunglasses and after coming out of hospital just over a week ago suffering from a mini-stroke I certainly did not want to leave my bag out of sight. I proceeded to shop with my life-partner, we had almost finished when the same Security Officer came to us again and said I must put my bag in the parcel counter, right next to us is a female customer with a bag bigger than mine wide open in her trolley but this is allowed as I am male this is not allowed, why?!I made a fuss and demanded to speak to the manger who said its company policy and "makes sense for a woman to have a bag" men cannot have a bag thinking it funny that 2 gay men standing in front of him, DISGUSTING!

What's wrong with PnP clothing? Good enough for your food but not what you wear? :p

Also, that "policy" is outright unfairly discriminatory :)
 
Why wouldn't a gay person shop for clothing there? Just because he is gay doesn't mean that he has the money for designer clothing ;)

Let's say you went in with your laptop messenger bag, would you trust that to the convenience counter? Not a blazing chance in hell. Same applies to any valuable items you'd have in an ordinary messenger bag.

If you can't fit your sheat in your jean pocket(yes jeans you're not suppose to wear anything else) then you don't need it. Eveything else goes in your wife/gf's handbag... oh you don't have a wife/gf?? Dump it in your crotch your sheat's safe there men would rather die then have someone rob their crotch so there you go safe and sound.

Tried that on me once while I had my kitbag. Told em to F-off. Manager came back to me, told him the same (had about R2000.00 worth of shopping in my trolley by then) looked at my trolley and told me not to worry about it.

Never heard that kakkas again.
 
The guy kinda has a point. PnP policy on what you are allowed to take into the shop is 100% arbitrary.

I regularly walk into one with a backpack. Sometimes they give me grief & demand that I leave it at the counter sometimes not. I think it depends on the day's horoscope...

ProTip: Pick up the expensive meds *after* going to PnP. The pharmacy which has goods worth 10x as much on their shelves does not care what I do (or anyone else who spends sufficiently big bucks).

If it pisses you off work around the system not against it. Technically HelloPeter falls in neither of those categories though...its just a waste of time.

So basically your comment is specifically about you? there is progressive thinking.

I don't carry a man bag, do wear jeans and I do have a wife that i sometimes use her handbag to put my (as you put it) sheat in.

My question is why is it OK for a woman to carry a handbag in to a store (and some of these handbags are bigger than the carry bags they give you at the stores) yet a man is not allowed to take in a manbag, kitbag or satchel into the store?

Those package counters are "for your convenience" if you do not want to carry parcels/bags around with you while shopping. I would like to see where it is company policy that you have to put all your carry items there.

Perfectly valid PnP totally out of line here. Either enforce mandatory handing over of bags for ALL people (this includes a women's handbags) or make it a choice and don't force people ot hand in bags. Pick one.
 
*** I would have fcking thrown my toys in a big fcking way. I have a little shoulder pouch thingy that I wear accross my chest and the little pouch sits on my hips. I use it to carry my ciggies, wallet and ID book. I hate having my wallet in my ass pocket and my ciggies in my front pocket and my cell in my other front pocket. It is very convenient. What is wrong with that?

I have never had a problem at P&P with my little man bag. And they better not try and pull that stunt with me.

Very discriminatory and just plain fcking stupid!
 
Okay ISPcow... Let me put it this way. Why wont any doctor give a woman a prostate exam? Is it discrimination? NO..... The reason is they're not suppose to have one! Just like no man is "suppose" to have a man bag.

Geez how can people complicate things to this point. Do you wear panties? Well you're not "suppose" to.

You just compared something physiological to something social. You have earned a "WTF" smiley: :wtf:

There is no reason other than your insecurity in your own sexuality for a man not to have a man bag. If you think having a man bag would somehow make you not a man then you have big problems.
