Hi Guys,

I wonder if you would advise on a good website designing programme. I need a wysiwig type. I need a basic website with various information pages that I can update every now and then. Would like the site to look good but need a programme to do it in. Easy but with features.

I am told Frontpage has been replaced with Expression Web 2. Is it any good? Can you perhaps recommend another one?

Thanks man
TH

The look and feel of Expression Web 2 is pretty similar to that of Frontpage except for the massive improvement when it comes to supported language types. One thing that I'm extremely impressed about Impression Web 2 is the support for PHP which Frontpage doesn't have.

If you don't mind taking a lot of time learning a program and getting used to the look and feel of a typical M$ product, then Impression Web 2 is the program for you. You will by all means get your website exactly the way you want it, but it might not be that easy as you think :D

yes kids use Dreamweaver :D

...quite cool program though :)

McGuyver, so we meet again :) Here is what I posted on a similar thread some time ago:
Threepwood, I realize that if your friend is setting up a new website, he might also be busy setting up a new business and working on a shoestring budget. If he does have approximately R770 ($99) spare I suggest that he takes a serious look at Microsoft Expression Web 2. The upgrade eligibility states that you can upgrade if you have any version of MS Office, which most people should have. I use Adobe Dreamweaver but had a look at Expression Web 1 when it was still in beta and it was quite impressive. Give the trial version a try

Do you perhaps have a link? Or company who makes it?

I became a bit confused with your quote, since Lord Nikon called it Impression as well as Expression Web.

It's Expression Web btw. ;)

Joolma 1.5
Its free and has great features.
I designed my website(The one in my sig) using joomla.

Dreamweaver CS3!!! I use it for the design of a Large coal mine's intranet site for data management and reporting...! Excellent program!!!

:D

I think all the cool kids use Adobe Dreamweaver.

I've tried others, but Dreamweaver just worked the best for me. *shrug* Personaly preference.

P.s: I'm not "cool" and I'm not a "kid" so that throws that theory out the window :D
lol

Download from Adobe's site... Thats the only link that I am aware of... But it is not free. But you can still download a 30-day trial from Adobe.

Joomla is a CMS - not a WYSIWYG product like DreamWeaver.

IMO, if you are looking to do a personal/simple site, try Kompozer - it's a lot like DreamWeaver, not quite as powerful, and without the price tag. It's not powerful enough for professional use though.
