Can you secure Mac?

One of the biggest reasons I dont run windows on my business computer is because its simply too easy to exploit and more seriously... its too easy get into. Meaning, anyone who has access to my physical machine could easily log into the desktop and look at my sensitive information.

I use linux because I can encrypt the entire disk and I can prevent people booting off a CD to access my desktop. Is it possible to secure a mac so everything is encrypted and people are not able to access your information without your password? When I say it should be encrypted, not even Apple should be able to access the data if I dont want them to.

Yes, FileVault asks if you'd like to encrypt the disk upon setup/reinstallation of OS X.

You can also turn it on anytime, not only during setup, see the link in post #2.

Indeed, my point was that it's actually quite common and suggested to be used, and is by no means hidden away from average users.
 
Yes.. Don't forget to encrypt your time machine backups tho ;-)

Ive bought a hackingtosh OS :D I paid the guys at iatkos to make a custom image image for my laptop. Busy downloading it now. Linux is cool, but sometimes I wanna play Wow or something, and thats when it sucks.

Has anyone also tried to replace the default commandline with the more power linux tools? I was thinking of following these instructions. https://www.topbug.net/blog/2013/04/14/install-and-use-gnu-command-line-tools-in-mac-os-x/

I'll be getting a gaming Hackintosh desktop soon. They do say that it's impossible to be as good as a Macintosh, though.

I'm sure you'll be over the moon.
 
I see you don't like Bitlocker, I don't blame you
 
I'm not sure I'd want to run file vault on a hackintosh?

It shouldnt mess up anything there, but I will trial it. Still downloading the image iatkos custom developed for my laptop
