i think there have been about 4 or 5 now over the last 4 months or so.

with all the security and booms you would think it would be a terrible place to attempt a robbery but it seems its easy to get away with it. it wont be long before someone gets killed.

do we start ordering our groceries online now?

huh? are you serious?

there was one just yesterday and one this morning.

yesterday a jewellery store and this morning a guy bringing money for the foreign exchange company was robbed in the parking lot.

thats 2 jewellery shops in the last few months and another was at checkers i think where someone was shot in the foot or something.

i am trying to find info on the web.

Canal Walk Management are useless. They also seem to be 'investigating' each robbery rather than putting their words into action. I can't believe one jewellery store was robbed in broad daylight. At least I hardly go shopping there... :p

That foreign exchange robbery smells of inside information to me. How come the robbers knew he had foreign exchange on him? Very dodgy!

i am wondering if they should put up a sign saying "shop at your own risk".

LOL! :D Well we are the only country in the world to Hi-jack "Hot Spot" signs. I wonder what good use those are? I'm sure they're really going to help in preventing a hi-jacking

ha ha ha.

i think they have a sign saying "parking at owners risk" and this in a place with security, booms and cameras and you have to pay for parking. if you go to shoprite you park in an unprotected place and its all good.

So, what would you have Canal Walk management do?
And, have you ever read a newspaper?

Hire more security so that they can increase patrol for starters - and in particular, the jewellery stores which seem to be a nice target for the robbers at the moment. Apparently at one the jewellery stores, the alarm system was disabled. I mean the fact that one of the robberies was done in broad daylight means they not scared at all of being caught.

And yes, I read the newspaper everyday...

I wonder why that is?
Is it that they know the police won't do a thing, or that they'll never be prosecuted, or a combination of those two.
I wouldn't rule out that they get inside information that the cops aren't in the area, making a rapid response impossible.

and it was 2 people on a bike, they had to get the the forex guy because ramming a coin exchange van with a bike might be a major FAIL.

Did you know Canal Walk have a "Response Vehicle". I saw it last week in Diep River (miles away from Canal Walk) a day after one of the robberies. I guess that's how serious they take security.
