I'm trying to cancel my Webafrica Uncapped ADSL but it keeps saying
Please specify a reason for your cancellation in the drop down box
but the drop down box is empty... nothing to choose from

How did you cancel your account with them?

I cancelled end of Feb, but phoned in to do the cancellation.

May I ask why you're cancelling? I did because the speed on my 1MB uncapped was just always far below 1MB. Just interested to see if that was the case...

See, these are the "updates" I'm talking about where the programmers just don't bother to test ****all and make it live.

Best is to create a support ticket. Send an email. Fax them. Phone them. Smoke signal them. Puncture the tires of the employees parked at their offices. Pay them a personal visit. Piss on the receptionists desk. And then, only then MAYBE you'll get your account cancelled.

lol, but no not really. Support ticket should do fine. Their system is always broken (wasn't kidding about that)

If all else fails. JEFF IS THE MAN. I'm sure that dude is smoking cigars and getting free hookers during work time because if he doesn't they're not paying him enough to spin the gold that man does. I WANT TO CLONE JEFF!!!! Would make me move back to WA in a heart beat if all of them were Jeff.... I like Jeff. He actually does his job.

My download speeds are hardly ever more than 20KB/s on my 384 line... even at 2am in the morning. And that's maximum, they normally run at between 10-15KB/s... even less during the day, 1-5KB/s...
:(

On that note... it looks like I'm going to be paying them for some time to come:
Please Note:This service is subject to a full calendar month’s notice for cancellations. To illustrate, for cancellation to be effected at the end of May, notice of cancellation must be received on or before the last day of April.

Mweb also pulls that stunt. Leaves a very bad taste. Axxess you can cancel before the 25th for the end of the month.

Nothing in the CPA that prevents this?
I was looking at moving to mweb... :erm:
I dunno who to move to now, just want a reasonable 384 uncapped, any recommendations?

The CPA says 20 working days, which is 1 calendar month.

I really don't know. I left Mweb because the usenet downloads we maxing at 20 KBps on a 4 Mbps line/account. But maybe they're better now. Certainly many people here rave about them.

Axxess' uncapped allows two concurrent connections so you could share it with someone and save half the cost.

But those two connections share the account speed so you really only getting 256kbps per line right?

Well as close to what I have atm with WA... R279 uncapped + 384line included...
Hmm tough one. I would say for approx. R200 more (line included) Openweb Gold, but that might be a bit out of budget. I get full speed 24/7 on my 1 Mbps line though.

In theory. In practice it seems full speed on both connections when I tried it (was a year ago).

d7e7r7, have a chat to MickeyD (over in TK), he says his Telkom uncapped works very well.
