So last night I made a booking for 3 days, from the 7th till 10th at a lodge. Now I need a bigger place as more people want to join, but the lodge wants me to cancel the original booking, and then they keep the deposit as they have a no payback clause....
Then I have to make a new booking for a bigger place.... and loose that 50% deposit on the smaller place

That sounds a bit unreasonable does it not? CPA states a "reasonable" amount for late cancellations, would 50% deposit be "reasonable" ?

Unfortunately reasonable is a bit ambiguous, and there isn't much you can do about it..

But is the bigger place you're booking in the same "resort" or is it a different place altogether?

Same resort, that's why I think it's a bit unreasonable to keep any of the deposit, it's not like I'm going to another place, just upgrading to a bigger one

Same resort, then thats bullshyte of the highest order...

Ja think they are trying their luck, luckily I paid and made the booking through Lekkerslaap.co.za.
Lekkerslaap now phoned me and said they will credit me as they haven't paid the lodge yet, and then I can re-submit for the bigger place and don't have to deal with the lodge that's full of crap.

I can understand if you were moving the booking somewhere else and it was less than 24 hours before the booking. But this is completely unreasonable. Glad they got a smack down.

I would not stay there if I were in your position. And name and shame them. That's not reasonable.

So they explained to me that the bigger unit belongs to the owner, also advertised on Lekkerslaap. So they could not book that unit for me as it's not on their system, still crap that they wanted to keep the deposit, they could have explained better.

But all sorted now at least.
